Dear CIPOA members,
As most of you are aware, the City of Avalon has passed a moratorium on the issuance of transient rental permits, in part to develop a plan to address the problems island residents have reported with such rental units. At the January meeting of Catalina Island Property Owners Association (CIPOA), we formed a working committee to draw up a proposal to improve the relationship between renters and their neighbors in Avalon by creating uniform rental standards and by monitoring our rentals more carefully.
The committee has produced the first draft of such standards and some suggestions for enforcing them. We must now fine-tune our ideas before we put them into action. We welcome your comments and suggestions on our plan, and invite you to join us. The committee is meeting this Wednesday afternoon, March 7, at 5 pm, at the home of Bill and Susan Scheding, 225 Claressa Ave.
The sole focus of this meeting will be to work on the rental standards and submit the proposal to the City.
We realize that not all of you can attend this meeting so we will be posting the first draft of our proposal and all subsequent drafts on our website at
www.cipoa.com. If you would like to add your ideas, by all means write to us at scheding@CIPOA.COMOne of the founding tenets of our organization is to be responsible, proactive property owners. We believe this proposal demonstrates our commitment to this principle.
Sincerely,
Susan and Bill Scheding
