Our Purpose:

To be a forum for the discussion of community issues,
To offer a forum to engage all CATALINA stakeholders to collaborate and deliberate on matters affecting the community,
To be an advocate for CATALINA to government and private agencies upon those issues where there is broad community agreement, and
To assist other organizations in CATALINA which want help in accomplishing their objectives or projects, and which the Association desires to support.

The Catalina Express has announced changes in their fare structure and schedules.
City Council Meetings are the First and Third Tuesday of the month.

Planning Commission Meetings are the last Wednesday of the month.

Latest draft of the proposed ordinance for Transient Rental Reqgirements.

This ordinance will have Public Hearings on on February 28, 2001, March 28, 2001, and May 30, 2001. I'm sorry it's so poorly formatted, we are unable to get an electronic copy of this ordinance, so it was hand typed into the computer.

It looks like there is little support for establishment of special zones that would be exempt from CUP applications; but the consideration of a proposed limit (by percentage or number) on the total number of CUPs is still on-going. The main problem as I see it is that if there is a limit placed on the number of CUPs, then a situation like the "Car Stickers" will emerge. This has been a nightmare for both the residents trying to get stickers for their cars and the City to administrate. It seems that the best approach is to let free-market forces determine the number of properties being offered for Transient Rental and solve the housing problems with determined City Planning, Community Input, and realistic (non-regulatory) solutions.
